Hi Sabrina,
Thanks for your feedback and careful monitoring that will ensure tabs are relevant and don’t get out of control. Yes, they could. However, I believe they could be overlooked as personal development and other online courses are increasing and becoming more relevant within the interdisciplinary professions, and this would enable both…[Read more]

Thinking a new Topic Tab titled Training and Development would benefit the multitude of online and other disaster preparedness risk reduction training.

Hi Wade, thanks for the suggestion. We have been trying to keep the number of Knowledge communities down to not further confuse members, but I am open to this, of course. Do you think local initiatives and trainings could also be posted in the ‘community-led activities’ group or do you have something else in mind? Thanks for letting me know. Sabrina

I have heard fantastic things about the work of https://www.hatzolah.org.au/ in the Southern States, providing culturally safe care for the Jewish Community in Melbourne. It is fantastic to learn about the Indigenous Rapid Response Reams formed by NSW SES or Fire/Flood (please someone fill me in) in recent disaster events to respond to indigenous…[Read more]

Hi Wade – Welcome to the DisasterWISE Community :) Thanks for sharing info about the rapid response teams – I haven’t heard about it, but would love to learn more also. The ‘citizen’ mobile phone apps would be useful for remote communities – at the moment our community has a what’s app chat for emergencies only – a bit of an extension from the…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing @wade-charles – what a great resource. I’ve just watched the “Aboriginal Tradition Could Prevent Bushfire in Australia” clip – key takeaways; healthy Country, healthy people, it’s about working together, collaborating and building relationships, Firesticks are doing some brilliant work with cultural burns and caring for Country.…[Read more]
