Paul Cull

Biographical Info

Currently studying for a PhD at Monash University Accident Research Centre focussing on community-led disaster response initiatives, Paul has been involved with community-level resilience projects for many years. Projects that he has coordinated include youth and community-based Disaster Response Team training, Community Emergency Hubs, community response planning, and disaster response activities in countries including Brazil, Mozambique, United States, Belize, Guatemala, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.

For the past two years Paul has been employed as an Emergency Management Officer with the Waimakariri District Council in New Zealand, where he participated in disaster preparedness and response activities and was responsible for three emergency volunteer teams and a Youth in Emergency Management course, and also introduced Community Emergency Hubs to the district. Prior to that, Paul was a full-time Emergency Management Advisor (Community Resilience) with the Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO) where he was responsible for over 30 Community Emergency Hubs and also spent many months in coordination centres during the COVID response and other adverse events.
